THE KICHA MAMA I KNEW

 

When I married Venkatraman (fondly called Venkata by the family members) , he made it clear all Mamas have a special place in life for him, Kicha mama was one of such special relation whom we always thought of fondly . For me it was indeed so delightful to have such close knit family that every meeting with mama and mami was always a happy occasion

 I can recall mama and mami had come to all different places we were transferred time to time  This is a tall commentary equating to the present times where even parents and children don’t get to meet one another staying in different continents and packed with busy schedules

When we were stationed in Dehradun and decided to have the poonal of Ravi and Raghu there, mama and mami took the trouble to travel all the way participate in the poonal staying at home and later everyone did a pilgrimage together to Badrinath and Kedarnath. Those memories can never be erased, always we recall with fondness.

Again when we were in Dehradun we went with kids to attend Jayashri’s wedding and roamed around entire Delhi after the event.

Next we moved to Baroda , again an interesting trip was arranged to the west coast of India by Venkat covering important pilgrimage centre as Dwarka, Somnath and other places nearby and mama and mami were there staying at home and enjoying every bit of the pilgrimage

From Baroda , our next meetings was at Assam and Rajamundry  Again Mama was there actively participating seeing together all those exotic places . And whenever we used to visit Mumbai without fail we will be in Ghatkopar to their house next to the railway track and Venkat used to recall with glee as how as a toddler he used to be so fond of coming there and he will at the window watching every passing train while mami used to be busy making dosai and feeding him. Such were the bonds for dear mama we had.

They were again there for Ravi and Raghu's wedding conducted at Chennai and Delhi blessing them on those auspicious occasions

Last few years of his life he had started declining in life energies . It is so touching that we all could meet him just recently before he passed away in Shruthis marriage . I am sure mama and maruman by now would have met in the other world and must be looking down on us fondly.

Its important to mention mama professionally served as an Income tax officer and he served as per his nature straight forward and with utmost honesty as is evident by their life style
